Pokemon Legends: Arceus offers players various opportunities to obtain free in-game items and content through Mystery Gift distributions. These freebies range from useful items like healing items and evolution materials to exclusive cosmetic outfits and special Pokemon. The availability of these gifts often depends on specific time windows, pre-order status, or ownership of other Pokemon titles.
Several free item bundles have been made available for a limited time. One distribution provided a bundle containing five Grit Pebbles, five Rare Candies, and five Star Pieces. Grit Pebbles and Rare Candies assist in powering up and leveling Pokemon, while Star Pieces can be sold to merchants for a high price. To claim this bundle, players needed to input the code THX4Y0URHELP via the Mystery Gift menu by March 31. Another limited-time distribution offered a bundle of free Ultra Balls, Gigaton Balls, and Jet Balls using the password ARCEUSADVENTURE.
In addition to item bundles, players who purchased the game by May 9, 2022, could claim several cosmetic items and items. These included the Hisuian Growlithe Kimono Set, the Baneful Fox Mask, 30 Heavy Balls, and the Garchomp Kimono Set. These were available as early purchase bonuses. A separate distribution available to all players until March 31 included the Baneful Fox Mask and the Growlithe Kimono Set.
Certain free content requires specific conditions related to save data from other Pokemon games on the Nintendo Switch. Players with save data from Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Pokemon Shining Pearl can undertake a quest in Jubilife Village after viewing the game credits to obtain the legendary Pokemon Darkrai. These players also receive a modern Team Galactic clothing set. Similarly, players with save data from Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield can obtain the mythical Pokemon Shaymin and a Shaymin Kimono Set. Additionally, players with save data from Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! or Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee! receive the Pikachu Mask and Eevee Mask.
Other free Pokemon can be obtained through in-game requests. For example, completing Request 20: The Mysterious Will-o'-the-Wisp, accepted from Paira in Jubilife Village after progressing the main story, rewards the player with a Chimchar. This request involves investigating a strange spirit in a tree at night in the Obsidian Fieldlands.
GameStop stores across the US and Canada also participated in distributing free content, offering download codes for a Hisuian Growlithe and 20 Feather Balls until March 13.
Regarding Mystery Gift codes, publicly available codes have been scarce. As of late February 2022, there were no active codes available for redemption. Most available gifts were distributed via the in-game menu without requiring a code, or were tied to specific pre-order bonuses with unique codes provided at purchase.
